Kazakhstan has reported nearly 150 cases involving the use of fraudulent and foreign documents by citizens of India, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia, as well as nationals of Kazakhstan since the advent of 2023, media reports.
Additionally, 233 individuals with dual citizenship have been identified, while the Republic of Kazakhstan does not recognize dual citizenship. Reportedly, individuals who have relinquished their citizenship and utilize a Kazakhstani passport or identity card may face administrative repercussions. Failure to declare any dual citizenship that an individual may hold could result in punitive measures counting the monetary penalties or even deportation from the country.
The authorities have also successfully prevented more than 300 cases of illegal currency movement, totaling over KZT 2.5bn (over $5.5mn).
Since early 2023, the Central Asian country has recorded 153 intercepted attempts to transport arms and ammunition, with suspects being transferred to the relevant territorial units for further investigation.
More than 8,000 individuals have been held accountable for violating migration legislation, and authorities are reminding the public to abide by the Republic of Kazakhstan's border crossing laws.
