In a recent statement that has drawn attention globally, US President Joe Biden referred to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a "dictator." The remark has raised concerns about the unpredictable nature of Washington's foreign policy, Tass reports.
Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, emphasized the contradictory and unpredictable manifestation of US foreign policy revealed by Biden's statement. He noted that the remark was not only a continuation of the patronizing and lecturing tendencies in US foreign policy but also reflected a level of unpredictability that has become increasingly unacceptable to many nations.
Peskov pointed out the recent conciliatory meetings between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese officials in Beijing, which were followed by President Biden's remark. This sudden shift in tone by the US head of state undermines the progress made by Blinken's conciliatory gestures, leaving the international community puzzled.
Nevertheless, Peskov asserted that Russia has its own relationship dynamics with both the United States and China. He acknowledged the strained nature of the relationship with the US while emphasizing the positive and constructive ties with China.
“We have our own spoiled relationship with the United States and our own good relationship with China," Dmitry Peskov stressed.
On June 21, President Biden made the "dictator" remark during a fundraising event in California. During a separate statement, Biden expressed optimism about the direction of US-China relations, stating that they were "on the right trail" following Secretary Blinken's recent visit to China.
The incident reflects the complexity and evolving nature of US foreign policy under the Biden administration. While there have been efforts to engage diplomatically and find common ground with China, the recent remark by President Biden raises questions about the consistency and predictability of the United States' approach towards global affairs.
“You know, on one hand, it [the remark shows] an entirely contradictory manifestation of US foreign policy, which indicates a great element of unpredictability. On the other hand, it’s also a continuation of the patronizingly bossy, lecturing tendencies in US foreign policy that have already become unacceptable for a lot of countries, and their ranks keep growing," Peskov added
