More than 40 corporations, including Adidas, Amazon, Marriott, Microsoft, and Starbucks, have pledged to employ thousands of refugees, including Ukrainians who fled the full-scale Russian invasion, in Europe over the next three years, Euronews reports.
The initiative, announced on the eve of World Refugee Day, aims to provide internships and job opportunities for a total of 250,000 displaced individuals.
The commitments were made at a business forum in Paris organized by the Tent Partnership for Refugees, an initiative mobilizing the business community to improve the lives of refugees. The program also includes support such as legal services, consultations, mentorship, training programs, language courses, and more.
Amazon is leading the efforts and plans to hire at least 5,000 individuals with temporary protection status in Europe. Other companies, including Marriott, Hilton, Starbucks, ISS, Adidas, L'Oréal, PepsiCo, and Hyatt, have also committed to providing employment opportunities for refugees. The initiative aims to not only offer meaningful employment but also empower refugees to contribute to the companies' success.
