Kazakhstan railways have implemented a ban on the transportation of Russian aviation fuel and kerosene from June 14 to July 14, Zakon.kz reports. The ban specifically applies to the transportation of jet fuel from all stations of Russian railways to stations in Kazakhstan.
The request for this month-long ban was made by Kazakhstan Railways joint-stock company on June 8, although no further details were provided.
In late May, Marat Karabayev, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan acknowledged a shortage of aviation kerosene in the country, leading to its import from Russia.
In the same month, a shortage of motor gasoline was reported in Kazakhstan, due to which the republic was forced to reduce the export of liquefied hydrocarbon gas (LHG).
For 2022, Russia is set to be the sole supplier of this product to Kazakhstan by rail, with an import volume of 1,300 tons compared to 400 tons in 2021.
