During a phone conversation on June 12, Shavkat Mirziyoyev assured President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Uzbekistan's readiness to offer full support in battling the forest fire in Kazakhstan and mitigating its aftermath.
The press release from the President's office stated that at the beginning of the call, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed deep condolences and words of encouragement to Kasim-Jomart Tokayev and the Kazakh people for the loss of lives caused by the forest fire in the Abay region.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan is prepared to provide all necessary assistance in combatting the natural disaster and addressing its consequences.
The presidents also engaged in discussions regarding the enhancement of their countries' good neighborly relations, strategic partnerships, and alliances. They placed particular emphasis on expediting the implementation of collaborative projects in trade, industry, energy, transportation, agriculture, and other sectors of the economy.
Furthermore, the leaders exchanged views on regional matters of importance on the agenda.
The forest fires in Kazakhstan
The large forest fires in the Abay region, which began on June 8 and spread across an area exceeding 60,000 hectares, have caused significant loss of life and extensive damage.
In remembrance of the victims, June 12 was declared a national day of mourning in Kazakhstan. The President of Kazakhstan apologized to the families affected by the tragedy and assured them that those responsible will be held accountable. Additionally, financial assistance will be provided to support the families of the victims during this difficult time.
