A 15-year-old boy died and three individuals sustained injuries in a shooting incident in Stockholm on June 10. This marks the second shooting in the city within a two-day period. Two suspects have been arrested in relation to the incident.
The shooting took place in southern Stockholm during the early evening hours. Upon receiving reports of the incident, the police quickly responded and discovered two individuals on the ground with gunshot wounds. Additionally, two more victims, including the teenage boy, were found nearby with injuries. Despite efforts to save him, the 15-year-old victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The three injured individuals, a 15-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, and a 65-year-old woman, are currently in the process of recovery.
The police have initiated a murder and attempted murder investigation in response to the incident.
This is the second shooting to occur in Stockholm within two days. On June 9, separate shootings in the wider Stockholm area resulted in injuries to three individuals.
Sweden has faced challenges in addressing an increase in shootings and bombings in recent years, often associated with gang-related violence linked to the drug trade. In 2022, there were 391 shootings reported in the country, with 62 resulting in fatalities, an increase from the previous year's 45 fatal incidents, according to police data.
