Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been excluded from the guest list for the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi in September, Indian Foreign Minister, Subramanyam Jaishankar, announces during a briefing for Indian media.
Minister Jaishankar clarified that only members of the summit, invited countries, and organizations are eligible to participate in the G20 summit. When questioned about President Zelensky's attendance, the Foreign Minister gave a negative response, stating that Ukraine's President was not included in the list of invitees that was announced when India assumed the presidency of the G20.
The Indian Foreign Ministry head further emphasized that the matter of President Zelensky's participation was not under consideration and had not been discussed with anyone.
In April, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Japarova expressed Ukraine's anticipation of an invitation from India to attend the summit of officials scheduled for September. Ms. Japarova emphasized the importance of potential visits and contacts that contribute to the expansion of political dialogue.
