Marriott International has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan’s Alliance Holding to open the first JW Marriott hotel in the country. The JW Marriott Hotel Tashkent is expected to open by the end of 2025 within the Tashkent City Mall — a landmark development that includes Uzbekistan’s largest shopping complex.
This marks a significant expansion of Marriott’s luxury portfolio in Central Asia and will become the second Marriott-operated property in Uzbekistan, following the Courtyard by Marriott Tashkent.
Ivica Čačić, Senior Vice President, Development CEE and DACH at Marriott International, said the agreement reflects the growing potential of Uzbekistan’s high-end hospitality sector.
“Tashkent is rapidly emerging as a sought-after destination for both leisure and business travelers,” he stated. “We are proud to bring the JW Marriott brand to Uzbekistan — offering its signature service, design, and holistic well-being experiences.”
The planned 287-room hotel will offer a refined luxury experience with multiple dining options, a wellness center, Spa by JW, Executive Lounge, event spaces, and the JW Garden — all designed in line with the brand’s emphasis on nature-inspired elegance and well-being.
Uzbekistan’s rise as a destination for tourism and investment has accelerated in recent years, supported by economic reforms and strategic positioning along the historic Silk Road. Tashkent, the capital city, is increasingly seen as a regional center for commerce, culture, and international connectivity.
With this new development, Marriott is positioning itself to serve a growing segment of sophisticated global travelers seeking premium accommodations in Central Asia’s emerging markets.

Alliance Holding is a prominent developer in Uzbekistan, engaged in large-scale real estate and infrastructure projects, including the Tashkent City Mall development.
In December 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that 23 international hotel brands—including Swissôtel, Sheraton, Ritz-Carlton, Novotel, Pullman, ibis, and Mercure—are set to enter the Uzbek market.
This hospitality expansion is part of a larger push to boost tourism. Entrepreneurs have already invested UZS 6.5 trillion ($518.9mn) in 2024 to create 24,000 new hotel beds, with plans to add another 30,000 beds in 2025, backed by UZS 10 trillion ($798.4mn) in additional investment.
