    Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds meeting with Lombardy governor Attilio Fontana

    During the second day of his official visit to Italy, June 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana in Milan. The meeting, focusing on practical aspects of mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, was reported by the President's press service.

    At the outset, President Mirziyoyev congratulated Attilio Fontana on his re-election as governor and wished him success in his position. The discussion primarily revolved around expanding the portfolio of joint trade and investment projects and involving Italy's advanced technology and knowledge in various sectors of Uzbekistan's economy. The need for a swift preparation of a cooperation program with Lombardy and the organization of a joint investment forum in Samarkand were highlighted.

    Last year, the volume of trade between the regions of Uzbekistan and Lombardy increased by 83%. In April, flights between Milan and Tashkent were resumed. Pietro Fiorentini of the area, Terranova, Danieli, Fin. And strong partnerships have been established with leading companies such as Opera.

    The meeting also emphasized the development of industrial cooperation, creating favorable conditions for business initiatives, implementing public-private partnership projects in medicine, fostering innovation, and expanding cultural and humanitarian relations, including the organization of Culture Days.

    Governor Fontana expressed sincere gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for the comprehensive support of Lombardy's business projects and initiatives in Uzbekistan. He conveyed his readiness to support mutually beneficial partnerships with Uzbekistan's regions.

    Concluding the meeting, President Mirziyoyev extended his best wishes to Attilio Fontana for the successful preparation of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Lombardy.
