The Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan has passed a draft law exempting land and property tax for individuals and businesses that install solar panels and other renewable energy devices with a total capacity of up to 100kW.
Presented for the first time during a meeting on June 6, the law is an amendment to existing legal documents, aimed at expediting the adoption of renewable energy sources. The proposed law allows entities producing and selling electricity via renewable sources to be exempted from profit tax, in addition to property and land tax.
The legislation is expected to support individuals and businesses, foster the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources, alleviate energy shortages in certain regions, enhance energy efficiency, and create attractive conditions for investors.
The draft law aligns with the Presidential Decree signed on February 16, which exempts those installing renewable energy sources from several taxes.
