The Tashkent city administration has approved a new resolution allocating nearly UZS 7.5bn ($589,391) to enhance pedestrian safety across the capital.

According to the mayor’s resolution, about UZS 6.9bn ($547,474) will be directed toward installing iron fences along city streets and roads to prevent traffic accidents involving pedestrians. The initiative aims to ensure safer urban mobility by reducing the risk of pedestrian-related incidents.
The engineering company Single Customer Service under the Tashkent city administration has been tasked with carrying out these works. Funding will be provided through the Tashkent City Development Fund.
In addition to the fencing project, the resolution also designates UZS 588mn ($46,654) for district improvement departments to undertake additional work aimed at ensuring road safety.
This comes on the heels of an earlier decree issued in May, in which the mayor allocated UZS 2.04bn ($160,314) for road safety improvements. Of that amount, UZS 1.46bn ($114,735) was earmarked specifically for the installation of iron fences to protect pedestrians.
