In the first six months of this year, Uzbekistan reduced UZS 5.6 trillion ($440.8mn) in ineffective budget expenditures, while identifying an additional UZS 5 trillion ($393.6mn) in potential revenue for the state budget. These results were presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a review of the Accounts Chamber’s latest activities and measures to strengthen budget and executive discipline.

The presentation followed a July 10 presidential decree aimed at modernizing state financial control. The Accounts Chamber’s audit approach has been significantly reformed—shifting from traditional inspections to a system of financial, compliance, efficiency, and strategic audits.
With expanded authority, the Chamber is now not only a supervisory body but also a strategic partner in promoting budget discipline.
As Uzbekistan’s economy continues to grow, so does the scope of financial oversight. To meet this demand, digital tools are being introduced. The “Remote Audit” system, launched earlier this year, has helped correct UZS 4 trillion ($312.9mn) worth of financial shortcomings across various government sectors.

Looking ahead, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to incorporate artificial intelligence into financial monitoring processes to proactively detect risks and eliminate inefficiencies.
The president also reviewed the rollout of situational control centers within ministries. Initially launched in 12 ministries, the system will be extended to 10 more agencies in 2025. Internal audit systems and data-sharing mechanisms between budgetary organizations and the Accounts Chamber will also be strengthened.
Ongoing efforts to align Uzbekistan’s auditing practices with international standards were highlighted. Over the past year, Accounts Chamber specialists have worked alongside international experts to apply global audit criteria—especially for projects financed through external debt. The president stressed that such audits must begin at the planning stage.

The meeting also addressed progress on the "People’s Control" platform, a digital reporting system designed to track and resolve public complaints in sectors such as construction, utilities, infrastructure, and ecology.
The platform now connects all ministries, departments, and regional governments. Work is underway to upgrade it with AI features, create a centralized control system, and expand call center services.
President Mirziyoyev concluded the meeting by instructing officials to reinforce executive discipline, ensure the efficient and targeted use of budget funds, and continue modernizing the public financial management system.
