Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, accompanied by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, embarked on an exploration of the architectural wonders in the city of Samarkand, the President's press service reports.
Their first stop was the Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory and Museum, where they discussed the significant advancements in science, culture, and creativity during the Timurid era, which served as the foundation for the country's Second Renaissance. Uzbekistan has established centers dedicated to the study of Islamic civilization and the heritage of scholars.
Next, they visited the "Afrosiyab" museum, where the exhibits and murals depicted the rich history of Samarkand spanning over three thousand years. One notable artwork showcased a reception ceremony for the ruler of Afrosiyab, emphasizing the ancestors' emphasis on diplomacy and long-standing cooperation with Eastern countries.
The distinguished guest was provided with insights into the construction history of madrasahs, the symbolism and meaning behind the intricate patterns, and the ongoing restoration work in the square. The Emir of Qatar expressed keen interest in observing the madrasahs.
Concluding their tour, the heads of state proceeded to the "Boqiy shahar" complex in the International Tourism Center of Samarkand.
