The energy sector in Kazakhstan is facing a significant shortage of specialists, with one in five professionals leaving the industry since 2020. In some individual enterprises, the shortage of personnel has reached 15-20%, according to media reports.
However, the Central Asian country has recently launched several new energy projects, such as constructing a nuclear power plant and developing renewable energy sources, which will increase the demand for professionals. To address this issue, the industry association has signed memorandums of cooperation with universities to improve the prestige of the electrical industry profession.
Reportedly, the Astana International Forum in June will provide an opportunity for government and private sector representatives to engage in a dialogue on energy and climate issues.
