A survey conducted by the public opinion monitoring bureau Demoscope among Kazakhs reports that the majority of people in the country have a favorable opinion of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as reported by a "Daryo" correspondent in Kazakhstan.
The survey revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is disliked the most by Kazakhs, receiving 32% of the votes in the "dislike" category. Volodymyr Zelensky and Joe Biden received a quarter of the votes each, while Xi Jinping received 20%. Erdogan was the least disliked president among Kazakhs, with 5.5% of the votes. The percentage of those who expressed dislike for Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was 6.9%.
Regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, the majority of Kazakhs (21.1%) expressed support for Ukraine, while 12% expressed support for Russia, and 60% remained neutral. About 61% of respondents believe that Russia will never attack Kazakhstan, while 23.3% do not rule out the possibility.
Around 54% of Kazakhs believe that the war will end with reconciliation, while a small portion believes that one side will emerge as the winner. Sociologists note that older citizens who rely on Russian TV programs hold the most pro-Russian views, whereas younger Kazakhs are more critical of Russia and Putin's policies.
