Japan has pledged to provide assistance to Ukraine by receiving Ukrainian soldiers for medical treatment, donating 100 military trucks and other vehicles, and delivering 30,000 food packages for the army, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as reported by "TASS."
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made this promise during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima. Kishida also expressed Japan's commitment to assisting Ukraine in various areas, including infrastructure restoration.
The G7 summit took place in Hiroshima from May 19 to 21, and initially, Zelensky was expected to participate remotely. However, he decided to attend the meeting in person and arrived in Hiroshima on May 20. During a press conference following the summit, Zelensky compared the destruction in the city of Bekhmut to the aftermath of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. He expressed hope that Bekhmut, like Hiroshima, would eventually become a modern, peaceful, and developing city.
In response, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that "the White House is responsible for both" situations, presumably referring to the conflicts in Ukraine and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
