Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that if Russian troops remain on Ukrainian territory, there is no possibility of achieving a diplomatic resolution to the war.
During negotiations at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan, Zelensky stressed the importance of exerting diplomatic pressure on Russia while upholding the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
Zelensky stated, "As long as Russian troops violate our territorial integrity, sovereignty, and laws, diplomatic means cannot be utilized. There will be no negotiations with them while they remain on Ukrainian soil." He expressed satisfaction with the G7 leaders' support for Ukraine's peace formula and their efforts to address various crises instigated by Russia.
Addressing the G7 and Ukraine summit, Zelensky highlighted the level of cooperation Ukraine has achieved with its allies and partners, ensuring the consideration of democracy, international law, and freedom. He acknowledged attempts to undermine these values but affirmed that Ukraine's power is growing, and any democratic country's potential attackers can witness the consequences.
Zelensky emphasized the need for strong global leadership in democracy and presented it as a significant aspect of cooperation.
