Apple has prohibited its employees from using external artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT, WSJ reports.
This decision comes as Apple is concerned about the potential exposure of users' confidential information if employees use such programs, as the entered requests and received answers may be stored by the employees.
Internal sources and email correspondence within the company confirm this ban. Additionally, Apple has specifically instructed its employees not to use Copilot, a code-writing automation program owned by Microsoft's GitHub. This move comes at a time when OpenAI has recently announced the release of ChatGPT on the AppStore, with plans to launch an Android version in the future.
ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is an artificial intelligence chatbot capable of answering a wide range of questions, assisting programmers in code writing, and even generating essays and poems. OpenAI's ultimate goal is to create an AI system that can perform tasks equivalent to those of the human brain.
It's worth noting that Italy has become the first country to ban the use of ChatGPT, citing concerns that OpenAI has violated personal data laws by not implementing age verification measures despite the minimum age requirement of 13+.
