The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) 32nd yearly conference is now taking place in Uzbekistan and "Daryo" prepared details of the meeting.
The summit, entitled "Investing in Resilience," is being held in Uzbekistan for the first time in 12 years. More than 2,000 individuals are joining the summit and business forum, including government officials, corporate executives, civil society members, and journalists.
The EBRD is an international financial organization founded in 1991 to assist developing nations in transitioning to market economies, adopting policy changes, and encouraging private business. The EBRD, which is now led by Odile Renaud-Basso, has sponsored over 6,500 initiatives totaling more than €180bn since its founding.
The bank's Board of Directors is its upper administrative body, and the previous leader Suma Chakrabarti presently works as a consultant to Uzbekistan's President.
The EBRD works closely with Uzbekistan, allocating €839mn for 26 initiatives in 2022 only. Over the previous three years, Uzbekistan has been the biggest receiver of EBRD money in Central Asia. The bank has invested over €4bn in 129 projects across Uzbekistan, with an emphasis on privatization, foreign direct investment, sustainable development, energy, transportation, and entrepreneurial initiatives for women and youth. The construction of wind generators and a high-voltage electricity transmission network are the two most prominent projects.
In Uzbekistan, the EBRD also promotes economic reform, attracts investments, and implements public-private partnerships. To assist its activities in the nation, the bank has built regional headquarters in Tashkent, Andijan, and Urganch.
