The electoral campaign has officially begun in Uzbekistan. The Assembly made the announcement on May 10, following a Central Election Commission (CEC) meeting.
The deadline for creating constituencies is May 15, and polling stations will be established on May 25. A unified electronic voter list will be created to speed up the process.
Regarding presidential candidates, nominations will be accepted beginning on May 17 and concluding on June 1.
The legislative process for adopting the document was notably efficient. The Legislative Chamber passed the law on May 2, followed by Senate approval on May 4, and received the President's endorsement on May 6.
The early presidential elections were announced on May 8.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed that this decision was the most appropriate and fair given the current circumstances.
