Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on May 2 to honor veterans who fought in the Second World War in Uzbekistan.
9th of May is widely celebrated in the country as a national holiday to remember and appreciate the sacrifices made by their ancestors. The purpose of the decree is to honor war participants and disabled veterans by providing financial assistance and promoting moral education.
Each participant and disabled veteran of the Second World War will receive a one-time monetary award of $1,580, which will be funded from the Republican budget.
The implementation of this decree will be overseen by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city governments, Ministry of Defense, National Guard, State Security Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment, Republic of Spirituality and Education Together with the Rifat Center.
Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov will be responsible for supervising the execution of this decree.
