At the Uzbekistan-Germany business forum, which was held in Berlin on May 2, the Energy Minister of Uzbekistan, Jorabek Mirzamahmudov, shared his thoughts about the event with a "Daryo" reporter.
The forum was significant, as evidenced by a large number of participants and discussions around green energy and green economy by German companies and financial institutions.
The minister revealed that agreements were reached in several areas, including a partnership with Siemens Energy, where the company will invest over $3bn in direct investments, apply its modern technologies to the new thermal power plant in Surkhandarya, and in the new generation capacities of the chemical cluster in Navoi.
The two parties will also cooperate on solar and wind energy projects. Construction of the Surkhandarya project will begin this year, while the Navoi project will begin next year. The agreements are expected to provide a stable energy supply, reduce gas consumption, generate additional electricity, reduce toxic emissions, and ultimately improve public welfare.
