Uzbekistan’s embassy in Astana discussed measures to attract Kazakhstan’s tourists to the neighboring republic, Dunyo reports. Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev set the task of increasing the number of foreigners visiting Uzbekistan to 7mn.
Some fifteen tour operators expressed their interest in arranging tours to the historic cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khorezm and stressed that the tourist potential of Uzbekistan is still ongoing. However, more proposals and content about places that may interest tourists are needed. Besides, the attendees suggested launching direct flights from Astana and Almaty to Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, and Nukus and organizing separate lanes for tourist groups when crossing border checkpoints.
