In its article, the Jewish Traveler edition listed Uzbekistan as a popular tourist destination for Israel’s travelers. The publication reads that Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Israel, Feruza Makhmudova, unveiled plans to launch a private Uzbek airline Qanot Sharq weekly flights from Tashkent to Tel Aviv and back from Tel Aviv to Samarkand.
‘The diplomat noted that Uzbekistan is interested in tourists from Israel and offers them a variety ranging from the rich culture and ancient traditions, wildlife and ski resorts, spectacular architecture and gourmet cuisine, and most importantly - Jewish heritage sites’, the publication says.
Uzbekistan and Israel have been working to strengthen their diplomatic ties and promote tourism between the two countries in recent years.
Israelis are particularly interested in visiting Uzbekistan for its rich history and cultural heritage. The Central Asian country is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, known for their stunning architecture and intricate tilework.
Uzbekistan also has a thriving Jewish community, with synagogues and cemeteries dating back centuries. Many Israelis visit Uzbekistan to explore more of their roots and history.
In addition to cultural tourism, Uzbekistan and Israel are also exploring business and medical tourism opportunities. Israeli companies have expressed interest in investing in Uzbekistan's tourism industry, while Uzbekistan is promoting its medical tourism services to Israelis seeking affordable healthcare options.
