Ukraine became the most prominent apple supplier to the Uzbek market in January this year, EastFruit reports. In particular, apple exports from Ukraine to the Central Asian country reached 360 tonnes, exceeding the export volume in the corresponding period of last year by 24%.
The article reads that apples grown in Ukraine ousted the apples from Iran, Moldova, and Turkey from the local market in January. As a result, fresh apple deliveries from the abovementioned countries to Uzbekistan fell by 32 times, threefold and fourfold, respectively.
Poland almost caught up with Ukraine regarding apple supplies to Uzbekistan in January, exporting 351 tonnes of fruit.
In 2022, the exports of Ukrainian apples to the Central Asian country peaked over three months in February-April, when more than 1,500 tonnes of fresh Ukrainian apples were exported.
