Uzbekistan is expanding regulated labor migration opportunities for its citizens to Saudi Arabia, focusing on employment in sectors including medicine, construction, tourism, and engineering, as to the Migration Agency on May 5.
The initiative was discussed during a series of meetings held by a delegation comprising representatives of the Migration Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Saudi Arabia. The talks addressed mechanisms for legal and organized employment of Uzbek citizens in the Saudi labor market.
During discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Sharqi, the parties reviewed updates to Saudi labor market policy, including new approaches to attracting foreign workers and a system for categorizing work visas based on skill levels such as entry, intermediate, and advanced.
The meetings also covered cooperation with recruitment organizations in Saudi Arabia, including KDOT, which specializes in matching foreign workers with employers. The discussions focused on developing targeted education and vocational training programs for professions in demand in the Saudi labor market.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group between the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan and the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The group will focus on organizing training programs in Uzbekistan aligned with international standards in medicine, construction, tourism, and engineering.
The plan includes introducing qualification assessments for candidates and creating structured placement procedures for employment in Saudi Arabia. These measures are intended to support regulated recruitment and improve workforce matching processes.
Labor migration cooperation agreement was signed in December 2025 between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. The agreement involves the Migration Agency and the Health Resources Company and sets out procedures for the legal and transparent placement of Uzbek citizens, including those seeking employment in medical-related professions, in Saudi Arabia.
