Average consumption of milk and dairy products in Kazakhstan was 7.1% less this year than last year, media reports citing the country's Bureau of National Statistics.
On average, the Central Asian Republic consumed 226 kg of milk and dairy products per capita.
The lion's share of milk and dairy products consumers live in the Akmola region, where consumption volume amounted to 267.1 kg per capita per year. Astana and Almaty are next: 259 and 253.7 kg per capita, respectively.
The lowest indicators were recorded in Chimkent and Kyzylorda regions: 138.1 and 183.8 kg per capita yearly.
In recent years, the Kazakh government has been implementing measures to promote the consumption of dairy products and support the development of the dairy industry. These measures include subsidies for dairy farmers, investment in dairy processing facilities, and campaigns to raise awareness about the health benefits of consuming dairy products.
