Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently deciding whether it is necessary to introduce the practice of issuing driver's licenses after the probationary period, Daryo correspondent reports from Kazakhstan.
Earlier KazAutoZhol company's representatives stressed that they are very unhappy with the driving culture in the republic. In particular, speeding in Zhezqazghan happens 2.6 times more often than the global average; driving without seatbelts is 8.5% more common in Kazakhstan compared to the worldwide rate.
The experts suggest considering Finland's experience, where a driver's license is issued after a two-year probationary period and a series of exams. In addition, they offer drawing attention to Star Rating for Schools (SR4S) established by International Road Assessment Program (iRAP) and its members.
The government of Kazakhstan has been working to improve road safety and reduce accidents. Recently, the country has implemented stricter traffic laws and increased penalties for traffic violations. Additionally, there has been an effort to improve road infrastructure and promote public awareness campaigns about safe driving practices.
