Turkmenistan has become the second most important country for construction companies from Turkey in terms of orders (10.7%) between 1972 and March 2023.
Turkey's Ministry of Trade reports that the volume of projects in Turkmenistan amounted to $50.8bn during this period.
In the first place is Russia, where Turkish firms have implemented projects worth $97.9bn. Iraq is in third place with a total value of $33bn, followed by Libya, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia. Since 1972, Turkey has implemented 11. Seven hundred projects worth $477bn.
Some 600 Turkish companies are registered in the Turkmen market, working in the trade, construction, energy, transport, communications, and textiles. In addition, a Turkmen-Turkish joint-stock commercial bank operates in Ashgabat.
The leaders in the construction business in Turkmenistan have long been the Turkish GAP Inshaat and Polimeks. These companies have built a major international airport in Ashgabat, the Olympic city, a seaport on the Caspian Sea, and companies in the textile and construction industries.
Rönesans, in partnership with Japanese companies, is now at the forefront of developing the local gas-chemical industry.
