"We can offer hydrogen production. Turkmenistan's unlimited potential allows the development of industrial production of the fuel of the future," the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper quoted him as saying.
The primary energy source for producing hydrogen is natural gas, which Turkmenistan is rich in.
According to various estimates, the cost of hydrogen from natural gas is still 2-5 times lower than from electrolysis. Most hydrogen produced is used in the chemical industry, metallurgy, machine building, and microelectronics.
Turkmenistan proposes to open a hydrogen energy center in Ashgabat with a mandate from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The global energy industry is undergoing global transformation, primarily related to decarbonization (reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions).
Japan is implementing hydrogen technology most actively: about 2,500 hydrogen-powered cars are already in that country.
The Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan earlier held a briefing on the world's largest hydrogen production facility, the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Centre (FH2R).
