The body of a brown bear was cremated in the oven of the veterinary department in the Kashkadarya region.
Several videos with a runaway bear were circulated on social media earlier. On April 5, residents of the Chirakchi district claimed they saw the animal visiting the local school.
The authors of one of the videos suggested that the brown bear descended to one of the villages of the Kashkadarya region to find food. As a result, the locals chased the animal in a car, trying to knock it down. In the end, the bear, out of fright, hid in a barn standing nearby. On the same day, locals gathered before the cave where the animal hid and shot the bear listed in Uzbekistan’s Red Data Book.
The Ministry of Natural Resources later informed that the animal had passed away before the arrival of experts from the capital of Tashkent. Some footage shows that the bear was shot dead, media reports.
On April 7, Ekolog.uz informed that the killed Red Book bear got burned in the oven of the Karshi veterinary department.
‘It turns out there is no body - no case? Will those who mocked and killed the brown bear be punished?’, the message reads.
