April 6. President Mirziyoyev ordered the creation of natural habitats and the establishment of nurseries for breeding wild animals during the meeting aimed at the protection of nature.
The President paid special attention to the protection of water, air, land and underground resources. In particular, more than 500 enterprises do not have water treatment facilities. Due to the low amount of compensation, it is more profitable to pay compensation than to install water treatment technology.
Therefore, a proposal was made to increase the compensation payment for excess discharge. The head of state gave the order to establish the activities of the environmental control inspection. In particular, 7 million tons of household waste are produced in Uzbekistan per year. Of this, only more than 2 million tons are processed. Greenhouse gas and sewage generated from the remaining waste are harming nature.
A project to obtain 15 megawatts of electricity from waste has been launched at the old landfill in Ohangaron. The head of state emphasized the need to establish waste processing and alternative energy generation in other landfills. In forestry, the area covered by trees is only 8%, which is definitely not enough. It is noted that there is an opportunity to develop 221,000 hectares of forests in the deserts and 15,000 hectares of forests in the mountain areas by developing plantations.
