Uzbekistan is aiming to expand the level of provision of centralized drinking water to 90% by 2026, while the level of coverage with wastewater services expected to reach 35%. Some $3.5bn is to be channeled towards these plans.
The head of the information service of "Uzsuvta'minot" (Uzbekistan Water Supply), said, that in the last 6 years, about $879.9mn have been allocated to improve the drinking water supply of the population. 1,176 water facilities and 20,800 km of drinking water networks were built at the expense of these funds. As a result, the level of provision of centralized drinking water to the population of the republic reached 74.4%. During this period, 8.2mn people were provided with centralized drinking water for the first time, and 4.8 million people improved their drinking water supply.
Currently, together with the Ernst and Young Advisory company, which is part of the "Big Four", 10 main directions for the transformation of the joint-stock company have been determined, and work is being carried out in this regard.
