The historic city of Samarkand will host several major international events starting next week.
According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, on April 13, the country's second-largest city will host a meeting of Foreign Ministers of neighboring countries of Afghanistan, in particular, Uzbekistan, Iran, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia.
In addition, a meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States is expected to be held on April 14 with the participation of the delegations of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The participants will exchange views on topical aspects of the international agenda and collaboration within the CIS region and discuss joint programs and draft documents submitted for consideration by the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
On the same day, Samarkand will host the sixth meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian States and Russia.
