The Uzbek government's decision "On measures to further expand the system of education and upbringing of children undergoing haematology, oncology, clinical immunology, other inpatient and long-term outpatient treatment" envisages the establishment of Mehrli Maktab centres.
According to the document, at least 3 branches of Mehrli Maktab will be set to provide special treatment for children between 2023-2028.
The main goal of the branches is to ensure the social adaptation of children in treatment, and their readiness to continue education in preschool and general secondary education organizations.
Mehrli Maktab, a state educational institution, was established in May 2022 by the government's decision which aims to offer its services to:
- preschool education hospital groups - groups organized in treatment and prevention institutions for children aged 2 to 7 years who are undergoing inpatient treatment and cannot go to preschool education organizations due to their health;
- playgroups for children of early development age - groups for children aged 1.5 to 2 years, organized in inpatient treatment and prevention institutions. Their care and supervision are organized with the active participation of parents;
- preschool educational hospital groups, and playgroups for children of early developmental age.
