Only 5-6 percent of the 1845 attractions located in 143 amusement parks in Uzbekistan have undergone technical inspection and are safe to use. The technical condition of the remaining attractions is unknown. Abdufotih Rashidov, the deputy head of the recreation park control department of the Mining Geology and Industrial Safety Inspection, informed Daryo.
According to the official, there are several reasons why the attractions in the existing amusement parks in Uzbekistan are not fully inspected.
"First of all, there is not enough staff in Andijan, Namangan, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Tashkent regions. The inspectors can’t simply fulfil their duties because of the regulation. We need to get a special permit to do our job. The business owners simply tell us off and demand a permit from the Ombudsman.
Our hands are tied. We barely inspected 5-6% of the existing attractions," Rashidov answered.
A couple and their child were thrown out from a ride in Bukhara region, and a 17-year-old girl fell from an attraction in Fergana. The responsible bodies found these attractions unsafe for use and dangerous.
