Uzbekistan's delegation, comprising representatives of regional offices of the International Association of Women Entrepreneurs, the International Center for Strategic Development Research in Food and Agriculture, and private farmers from Namangan, Fergana region, and Tashkent, visited Azerbaijan on March 21-28 to study the country's experience in the agricultural industry, Dunyo reports.
The compatriots visited various regions of the republic to examine the country's agricultural achievements, including hazelnut growing, viticulture, pomegranate, and dry fruit production. Summarizing the visit, the delegation members were delighted with their visit to Azerbaijan. They expressed their readiness to make all their efforts to build further mutually beneficial ties between the two fraternal countries and peoples.
Azerbaijan has designated agriculture as one of four priority sectors for diversifying its economy. According to the International Trade Organization (ITO), agriculture is Azerbaijan's largest employer, employing 37% of the population and accounting for 7% of the GDP.
Agriculture is an important sector of Uzbekistan's economy, accounting for approximately 25% of the GDP and employing about 26% of the labor force.
