According to the report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces have captured another 5% of Bekhmut's territory in the past week and now control about 65% of the city's territory.
Based on geo-located videos, ISW reports that units of "Wagner" mercenaries moved from the south to the city center, to the Palace of Culture, which is located near the market and the city council building.
In the northwestern part of the city, the "Wagner" non-ferrous metal processing plant completely occupied the territory of "AZOM" and moved towards the south of the industrial zone.
The area of Bekhmut is a little more than 40km², so 5% of the city's area is about two square kilometers.
Serhii Cherevaty, the spokesman of the eastern group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced that the number of combat clashes between the Russian and Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut has decreased.
"In the last three days, the number of battles has decreased, but the situation in Bekhmut should be seriously analyzed, which may have been caused by a certain regrouping of troops. I think that in the next days or a week, we will find out what caused it," - Cherevatiy said.
On the Bekhmut line, the main Russian striking force remains Wagner's troops, but they are reinforced by regular troops.
