Uzbekistan and Algeria held a conference on prospects of strengthening bilateral cooperation, including between the analytical centers of the two countries. Chaired by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Institute of Strategic Global Studies of Algeria, the event saw leading experts and representatives of the diplomatic corps and the academic community in the two countries.
This year marks the 31st anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Algeria. In this context, experts stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral collaboration and finding new growth points and drivers for mutually beneficial cooperation. At the same time, immediate attention was drawn to the economic agenda of interaction, primarily in such promising areas as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, medicine, tourism, etc.
In addition, the meeting participants drew attention to the peculiarities of the geographical position of the two countries in their regions. So, Algeria for Uzbekistan can become a gateway to the markets of African countries. At the same time, Uzbekistan, being in the region's center, is attractive for enhancing Algeria's comprehensive ties with Central Asian countries.
This will help strengthen regional connectivity and improve economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the states of the two regions.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in establishing a regular expert dialogue, allowing for an exchange of views on all areas of partnership between Uzbekistan and Algeria.
