The State Committee for National Security uncovered a corruption scheme in the Customs Service where the officers sent Chinese contraband to Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan.
“Some illegitimate companies, using the 'patronage' of officials of the department, processed the transit of goods from China through Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. However, the goods were unloaded in the Kyrgyz Republic, without customs clearance. Then empty trucks proceeded to Uzbekistan, sealed with fake customs declarations and means of customs identification,” the message says.
In a criminal case on March 16 and 17, six employees of the Customs Service and three representatives of private companies were detained and placed in the temporary detention center of the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security.
The head of the special services, Kamchybek Tashiev, personally oversees the investigation, since there are relatives of high-ranking officials among the detainees.
It is estimated that the damage caused to the state is about 11.5 million USD.
