A joint meeting of the Committees of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, responsible for preparing the draft Constitutional Law - on combating corruption and judicial and legal issues, as well as on democratic institutions, non-governmental organizations emphasized that the updated Constitution would cover all layers of the Uzbek society.
More than 220 thousand proposals were received during the nationwide discussions becoming literally the Nation’s Constitution.
The current Constitution has been updated by 65% introducing 27 new articles (increased from 128 to 155), and norms (from 275 to 434).
20% of the proposals received from the population, that is, 18 thousand, are related to the reform of the parliament.
The joint powers of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate are clearly defined, as well as the separate powers and responsibilities of each chamber. That is, the absolute powers of the Legislative Chamber increased from 5 to 12, and the Senate - from 14 to 18.
