World Bank Vice President Anna Bjerde has hailed the scheduled IPO of Uzbek SOEs as a delegation led by her met with Uzbekistan's officials to exchange views on joint reforms on human capital development, reforms in ensuring gender equality and tackling climate change.
Reportedly, the sides touched upon the projects implemented by the World Bank on strategic, analytical, information, and operational work in Uzbekistan, as well as the current state and prospects of ongoing projects for the development of the private sector, creating conditions for the investors and privatization, developing the capital market, accelerating the transition to a green economy, developing the energy market and improving energy efficiency, agriculture, and food security in cooperation with the World Bank.
WB Vice President Anna Bjerde highly appreciated the large-scale reforms to attract the private sector to public services and functions in the Central Asian Republic, the IPO (Initial public offering) of shares of state-owned enterprises on the local stock market, and social protection of the population.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed further to strengthen cooperation on joint projects with the World Bank.
