Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex disprove false accusations of several bloggers on their impact on air pollution in Tashkent, the company's press office has informed.
The "Yoshlik I" mining project that was launched on the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2017 is blamed for being the reason for air pollution in the capital. Local blogger Nikita Makarenko posted a message from a subscriber who was claiming that the "Yoshlik I" project has been actively using explosives for mining and that huge masses of dry clay and gypsum are rising into the air and wind currents are bringing them to Tashkent. The message was addressed to AMMC itself and to ecologists.
In response, AMMC on their channel described the processes of mining that are being performed at "Yoshlik I". The land where the mining works are held is said to not contain any gypsum, rather there are diorites and syenite-diorites in the bedrock of the location.
To ensure that dry clay will not rise into higher levels of the air, the land is irrigated before mining. Moreover, the mining location is 61,4 km away from Tashkent to the South and the wind currents mainly flow at the speed of 1,2 meters per second to the South-East from Almalyk.
