Since the incident that happened during a wedding in Surkhandarya last year, where the bride beat his groom because she won him the game, the government began to take serious steps towards eliminating gender-based violence. And this year's case of child rape was another signal for strengthening the punishment for such human rights violations.
Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting where all the specifics of new laws were discussed and agreed upon.
The amended draft law includes cases such as the humiliation of a victim under 18 years of age or the use of violence against them, satisfying sexual needs in an inhumane way (pedophilia), forcing them into intimacy or involving them in prostitution, and creating pornographic products depicting a minor in the area of law enforcement.
In the case of women, the law also includes forcing a woman to abort her fetus artificially, disclosing information that reflects the confidential aspects of a person's life, that degrades her honor and dignity.
