On February 27, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution "On additional measures to improve the system of support for persons with disabilities which envisions provision with modern prosthetic and orthopaedic products, as well as modernizing the equipment of institutions for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
The Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 sets the goal of bringing the level of provision of the needy part of the population with modern prosthetic and orthopaedic products and rehabilitation facilities to 60%.
The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction was instructed to provide persons in need with free of charge high-quality modern prosthetic and orthopaedic products for legs, made on the basis of foreign technologies, including persons with disabilities included in the Unified Register of Social Protection, as well as persons with disabilities Group I - hip prostheses, lower leg prostheses and leg orthopedic devices.
A medical report for obtaining implants will be entered by medical expert commissions into the online system "Medical and Social Expertise" simultaneously with the medical and social expertise and the establishment of disability of an applicant.
Based on the appeal (including in electronic form) of a person whose disability has been established, as well as a medical report, an electronic certificate for receiving prostheses will be generated on the Social Service electronic platform.
From May 1, in order to care for a child with a disability who is being treated in a medical institution, his father or mother or another family member who cares for the child, conditions are created for being with a child with a disability, in particular:
- a person who takes care of a child with a disability in stationary medical institutions is issued a certificate of incapacity for work;
- Persons caring for people with disabilities since childhood (parents and others) are provided with free meals during the period of treatment in state hospitals.
