Specialists of the Republican Center for Scientific and Practical Medicine of Specialized Surgery in the Koshkopir district of the Khorezm region conducted the first kidney transplant surgery.
Patient Zafar Khaitboyev was diagnosed with a mixed type of chronic glomerulonephritis, a terminal stage of chronic kidney failure, and has been receiving hemodialysis since last year.
He went to Tashkent and wanted to recover through a complicated surgery but surgeons of the Surgical Center in the capital came to Koshkopir and performed the transplant operation in his hometown.
A kidney was donated by the sister of the patient. The high-tech treatment was successful and now both Zafar and his sister are doing well, their health is recovering under the supervision of doctors.
