Tourists detected fifteen dead pelicans listed in the Red Data Book on the Tuzkan Lake in Uchkulach village of the Jizzakh province on Sunday (February 19), Tashkent Land reports on telegram. Pelicans were found in the water and at the shore of the lake; many had ropes on their legs or neck injuries.
'We ask the Ministry of Natural Resources and environmental authorities to draw attention to the situation,' the message reads.
Unfortunately, that's not the only case of animal cruelty recorded in the Jizzakh province. Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbek law enforcers had identified a man who killed the pink pelican on January 31.
