The Senate's Committee on Agrarian and Water Management announced that more than 14 billion soums of loan funds allocated to livestock projects in Uzbekistan over the past two years had been embezzled, the information service of the Upper Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reports.
The senators heard the results of the study on the works carried out in Namangan region where some problems had been identified.
"The region authorities have created new workplaces; the livestock complexes have not been established and the cattle have not been delivered on time. In the last 2 years, more than 14 billion soums of loan funds allocated for the implementation of those projects have been used for no purpose," the report said.
The officials in charge are lax in fulfilling their duties and the issue is under the spotlight of the parliament.
