Uzbekistan’s law enforcement authorities have arrested three men for plotting to sell homemade devices containing mercury and radioactive material for $1mn.
Reportedly, the group was detained in a sting operation while attempting to sell a device containing 1 kg of mercury in exchange for an advance payment of $200,000, the Interior Ministry in Samarkand announced on Friday (February 17).
One of the suspects was previously engaged in the sale of radioactive and poisonous substances, the police said. The investigation is underway.
