Authorities have identified the man who killed the pink pelican, listed in Uzbekistan’s Red Data Book, the press service of the republic’s Ministry of Natural Resources informs.
Earlier it was reported that a man caught a bird on bait and cut off its head on one of the lakes of the Aydar-Aysanay system on January 31. The man violated the laws ‘on the protection and use of wildlife’ and ‘on hunting and game management’ of Uzbekistan’s legislation, the Ministry notes.
Documents were submitted to the prosecutor's office to bring the violator to criminal responsibility and compensate for the damage caused to the animal world.
The pink pelican is included in the Red Data Book of Uzbekistan and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
